Hiya furriends,

Although we have a good home and not too bad humans – we can’t really complain, can we? -, the past few weeks have been very sad at times. Many furriends crossed over the Rainbow Bridge. I cannot list them all sadly but among our fellow bloggers were Fangie at Catself, Kelly at the Creative Cat, Fluffy at Hey… It’s Jet Here, Bingo at Hutch A Good Life, Zac at Zac the All Black.

I’m sure they are all playing together over the rainbow bridge now, free of pain. I am pausing for a minute and will leave a treat behind tonight in their memory.

I was so sad I tried to find a place to remember them quietly and reflect about life.

I found the closet where the humans store our food. But my human found me.

That’s too bad because there were plenty of good food in there. But nothing to help me in my pain or vocation.

No nip.

Now regarding nip… again my furriends, we don’t know the exact effect on humans so don’t try this on your humans. I would like to insist that I do not promise you nip (although if any of the cat-idates to rule the world for a cause would make me Minister of Nip, I could rethink that last statement), only enlightenment for those who believe.

Finally, I was nominated for two more awards that I didn’t have yet. So I would like to thank The Sugarlump for nominating me for the Addictive Blog Award and It’s a Pussy Cat’s Life for the Super Sweet Blogger Award.

Thank you so furry much! I really appreciate and send you purrs!

Here are the Addictive Blog Award Rules:

1. Thank the person awarding you — Done
2. Share a little about why you blog and how the journey started — See below
3. Paste the blog award on your page — Done
4. Nominate 10 other bloggers you feel deserve the award and let them know you nominated them — See below

Why I blog
I think my little life is very interesting. No seriously. My human was too busy lazy in France to start my blog, so I only had my Facebook Page, but now that my brothers and I had traveled so far, I needed a blog to tell my story.
Plus now I want to share with you the heavenly enlightenment of the nip I received.
Most importantly, it is a way to meet new furriends =^.^=

Here are my ten nominees:
=^.^= Sammy
=^.^= My furriends Hemingway and Shakespeare at Two Cats’ View
=^.^= My furriends Nellie and Kozmo
=^.^= Mollie and Alfie
=^.^= Easy
=^.^= Bowie
=^.^= Archie, Oscar and Henry
=^.^= It’s a Pussy Cat’s Life
=^.^= Angel’s Whisper
=^.^= My furriends at Manx Mnews

Now the rules for the Super Sweet Blogger Award are:

1. The nominee has to thank the person that nominated them — Done
2. Answer the 5 Super Sweet Questions — See below
3. Nominate a bakers dozen of other Super Sweet Bloggers and let them know — A dozen?! See below

Me thinks this award is better suited (vocab building project VBP) for humans (especially the sweet food part), but here we go.
1. Cookies or Cake?
Tuna cake!
2. Chocolate of Vanilla?
Er, nip?
3. What is your favourite sweet treat?
Er, the new Greenies, salmon flavor.
4. When do you crave sweet things the most?
All the time, why?
5. If you had a sweet nickname what would it be?
I know my human would call me cupcake. Hmph.

Now for my nominees:
=^.^= Terri’s Kitchen
=^.^= Hey… It’s Jet Here
=^.^= Janina
=^.^= Sammy
=^.^= Savannah
=^.^= These Days of Mine
=^.^= The Sugarlump
=^.^= A German Expat’s Life in Texas
=^.^= Brown Pony Tail
=^.^= My new furriend Mr. Jeeves
=^.^= Imagination is Spicy
=^.^= Easy

Now TGIF, I need a nap.

Enjoy your Friday everyone!

Hiya my furriends, furry and human furriends alike!

I cannot believe it’s been a year since I first started blogging here! WoW!

I want to thank all of you who have visited my blog, liked posts and/or commented. It’s been quite a year and I am so glad I found so many furriends along the way.

I don’t want to single out just a couple of you but… I remember that among my very earliest followers (apart from family – Hiya Janina!) were the beautiful Sparkle, the adorable Catpurrology, Sweet Savannah and my good furriend Sammy! I’m not sure how I found you all or how you found me but I’m glad to know you! Then most of my furriends readers followed. I love you all so much!

To all my readers I send purrs today to thank you for coming and visiting my blog.

There are a couple of my earliest readers who didn’t have blogs that I do not see anymore. I hope you are doing fine too.

So, to celebrate, I was so so glad to discover that my human had bought me two gifts: a new toy, filled with catnip (a great toy – they claim it has the best catnip of the universe but unless they buy it from my furriends at the Katnip Lounge, it cannot be the best of the universe, sorry) and new Greenies treats (the SmartBites ones!) and they are yummy!
You think I should get my human something (because of the typing you know)? Well, since I’m doing all the cleaning on the little brat sister, I might be able to get her a fur ball for tonight =^.^=

Below are some pics and a video (thanks to my human’s husband!) of me enjoying my new toy and my first blog anniversary! Please come join me and have fun!

If you have a minute, I’d love to hear in the comments about a particular post you may have enjoyed and remembered!

THANK YOU ALL! I hope I’m starting another great year and I hope to spend it with y’all =^.^=

Back in 2010, we had an early, very cold and snowy winter. My human was living and working near Paris, while her husband was living and working in Brussels, Belgium. Don’t ask. Humans stuff. Complicated.

Anyway, they would visit each other during weekends and when I got to stay alone, my human’s Mom was visiting me or pet sitting me at her home. During the Christmas/New Year holidays, they usually spent one in one country and the other in the other (aren’t humans a bit complicated?)

But back in 2010, when my human was going to Brussels for Christmas, it had snowed A LOT just a couple of days before and traffic was bad and chances were my human’s Mom wouldn’t be able to come visit everyday. She had no other pet sitter. Yet she had to go to Brussels for other matters than Christmas too. She knew I’d rather stay in the comfort of my home, but she decided to take me with her because there was no way I was staying alone for a week, of course.

It was very cold outside so she put lots of blankets in my carrier and we went to Brussels together. She had upgraded her ticket to a First Class ticket so that she could easily have the room to take me on her lap all the time. There were not too many people in the train so I even got my own seat.

I hated train though. I am really calm in cars but I fought to get out of my carrier during the 1 hour and 20 minutes of our train trip. My human did her best to comfort me but I didn’t like it at all. It was noisy, moving all the time… Hated it. I know she felt bad about it but once we got out of the train it was okay.

We arrived safe and sound. And I got to visit my half-brothers who had been living with their human there for a couple of months.

The apartment was an old apartment with a lot of decorations made of wood. Also you can tell that, er, my human wasn’t living there because, er, it’s a bit messy. Plus the three of us, I have to admit, added to the mess a little.

Below, this is me behind a cat door. Because one of the rooms was not well heated, keeping the door closed was better. But the cat door made sure we could get there if we so wanted. We don’t like closed doors.

Striking a pose on an old, out-of-order chimney…

Cat chatting with Grouik…

It’s tiring to be a globetrotter cat…

And enjoying local drinks. Yep, just the empty bottles (you should see the humans get all nostalgic now at the sight of a bottle of Serafijn Grand Cru beer…).

You probably expected to see me photographed with the Manneken Pis, but we never went out, it was too dangerous out there.

BUT, just for you, I asked my human to make a bit of an effort to help me for once and thanks to the magical Photoshop tool here we are!

Wishing you all a great week!

Today is Kitshka’s birthday. She is two months old. It is her first birthday at our home. Her home =^.^=

Despite the fact that she has already stolen all of our toys, my human bought her a new one for her first birthday with us, a Kong Cozie Kickeroo. It appears to be some kind of blue raccoon.
The label on the toy says “Your cat will love you for it.” Ahah! My human is trying to buy my little sister’s love! Well, here she is, playing with it during… about 1 minute and 18 seconds. Kids.

Happy Birthday Kitshka! Don’t forget tonight you’ll have a little special treat too. Well, that’s usually what my human is doing for me ;-)

Hiya everyone! Hiya my furriends from Katnip Lounge!

Recently, I was the lucky winner of some fresh catnip harvested by my furriends’ Mom from the Katnip Lounge. Thank you SO VERY MUCH my furriends!!! It is the BEST CATNIP EVER!

I received it yesterday!! WOOHOO!! Can you tell I have tasted this delicious catnip already? CaNyOUTeLl REALLY?

I was a bit concerned because our mailman was on vacations and I feared he had run away with it. But thank Ceiling Cat no!

My human could only smell it when she opened the envelope (which was addressed to ME by the way, human!). Humans and their poor, inefficient noses. I could smell it the envelope closed. Can you tell?

My precious…

I got a little cute note too, and read it. Yep I read it! (Smelled goooooooood)

Then – horror! – my human tried to steal my nip! Can you believe that?! She pretends it was to take a picture… yeah right.

I took it back and finally… ahhhhhhhh… Blisssssssssssssssssssssssssssss…

My human took it back because she said I was putting catnip all over the place. Duh! You bet I was. Plus I had to open it myself (my human was way too long to act! So I used my teeth)

Ahhhh… it was wonderful. I had catnip all over my paws and my human sprinkled a little more on me. Loved it!

Then I had to find the catnip that had fallen on the floor. You don’t let such good catnip go to waste! No no no!!

I think I might have some left on my chin

Miam !

Did I say it was pure bliss?

Now if you’ll excuse me, I have to go find out where my human stored the precious bag…

Thank you SO MUCH to Katnip Lounge! It’s the best catnip I’ve had EVER and my human says she’s never seen me enjoying catnip that much! I confirm.

This video is not excellent quality because my human used her point-&-shoot camera (which she needs to clean btw). She thought she was going to record a funny moment.

It’s been exactly a month today that our beloved Grouik has left us. Not a day has passed without the humans thinking about him. We all miss him so very much.

Thankfully, we have our memories and the humans have plenty of video footage so we can watch him over and over again.

The pages (“A little bit about myself” and “My half-brothers“) on the menu on top of my blog have been updated and we have added a special page for Grouik. You can access it from the menu on top of the blog, or the first badge of him on the sidebar. You can also go to this page by clicking on the badge below.

There are many pictures of him, some words from his human, pictures of his last resting place, his little paradise that his human made for him, and a video. There will probably be one or two more videos posted later but we will let you know about that.

This is our modest tribute to our Grouik.

As I have probably told you before (my human is telling me I am getting old – she should look at herself first!), before I had my blog, I had a Facebook Fan Page. Which you can like here by the way ;-) I’m only 2 fans away from 200 fans!!

Anyway, I digress. So, while I had my fan page, I had time to work on my blog and it was not always easy. See?

What is this? WordPress for Dummies…

It looks big…

Do I have to read this? Can you read it for me?

So, how do I post a link…

Tiring activity… I need a nap!

Thank Ceiling Cat, after that much-needed and much-deserved nap, I had the brilliant idea to have my human work on it for me. Of what use would she be if she wasn’t working for me?

There you go. Filmed and edited by my human’s husband which is better than my human very good at that video thingie.
My human prefers photographs.

Here’s our welcome to little Kitshka.

Enjoy and Happy Sunday!

I admit, I might not have realized, at the time, that I was just a kitten full of energy and that Grouik and Milou were old(er). And that maybe, they didn’t have as much energy as I had.

Well little Kitshka is fun to play with but she is like a herd of kitten’s worth of energy and she doesn’t understand the concept of stopping a game to take a nap.

So I had to teach her the virtues of a good nap after we had played.

And she got it.

Yesterday night though, at around 1:30 am, she decided she needed to do some exercise and she started running in circle on the humans in their bed. Bad idea Kitshka. The humans were not very pleased as they really needed sleep and ended up closing the door to their bedroom. Me? I was inside already with them! Nice night we had after that.

I’m not sure today is going to be a good day for naps because I heard the humans plan to clean the house. Which means the abominable aspirateur!

So, I’d rather go take a nap on the humans’ bed now. And then after the cleaning, when the fresh, clean sheets await me.

Happy Caturday! What are you gonna do today?

Today, Kitshka, our new little sister, has been home for a week exactly (well, tonight it will be a week).

The humans had kept her in their room at first, separated from us. As if we couldn’t smell her. Well, Milou didn’t seem to realize. I think he didn’t want to. She had her little bowl of kitten kibbles (the same yummy ones I had when I was a kitten too!), her little bowl of water and her little litter box.
Since she felt like exploring after the first night only, they decided to prudently open the door and see what our reaction would be. Of course, we didn’t like the idea at first and we had to make it clear, was the little brat fur ball to stay, who was there first.

Below is a video of Milou and I first meeting her. Please excuse the humans’ mistakes: the orientation of the iPhone camera, the mess, the feet!

As I have mentioned before, we started playing on our second day of knowing each other, and we still do! Milou has been hissing a little less these past couple of days so it looks like she has won everyone’s heart almost. Welcome to your furever home, Kitshka!

Hope you like the video!

Hiya my furriends!

I finally get to dictate my post to my human to thank you all for the awards you nominated me for.
(Yes, I only get the laptop back now, because after the seminar thingie, my human’s new excuse is webinar thingies…).

Let me thank my very good furriend Sammy for nominating me for the Thinking of You blog award. What a wonderful award, especially for a blogger! Thank you so much, Sammy.

This is a brand new award and I will go back to the acceptance rules in a minute =^.^=

Thank you to Angelswhisper and Zac for nominating me for the One Lovely Blog Award. I already have this award but I am very grateful to receive it from you too, and I’m sending lots of purrs your way!

Zac also mentioned a Grazie/My Beautiful Lipstick Award that gained me a big kiss/lick! Thanks Zac! I would like to dedicate this award to one reader especially and that’s anonymoushedonist (because of the beautiful lipstick, you know ;-)

Another award I didn’t have is the Beautiful Blogger Award. I was nominated by my furriend Easy and my new human furriends at the Bonny Blog. Thank you so very much to Easy and the Bonny Blog! It’s nice to be called a “beautiful blogger” ;-)

The rules to accept the Thinking of You Award:
1. Thank and link back to the sender — Done =^.^=
2. Tell seven things that I love and that I think about daily — Now that’s easy, check below!
3. Pass the award to seven other blogs — Again check below

Here are my seven things that I love and think about daily:
=^.^= Fresh shrimps
=^.^= Fresh chicken
=^.^= Opening my human’s closet for shoes and sleeping on them
=^.^= Playing with my kragonfly
=^.^= Napping on the bed or elsewhere
=^.^= Yummy Almo Nature wet food that I used to have in France
=^.^= My human and especially when I am napping and she is putting her head next to me to hear me purr – makes me purr even more!

Now the 7 blogs I nominate:
=^.^= Merlin especially (and his entire family too) at CatWisdom101
=^.^= angelswhisper
=^.^= Zac The All Black
=^.^= Janina
=^.^= All my furriends at the Katnip Lounge
=^.^= Lisa at ft. // la vie éclectique
=^.^= Sundae and family at The Days of Mine

I will let them know as soon as I post this article.

The rules to accept the Beautiful Blogger Award:
1. Thank and link back to the sender — Done too
2. Tell 7 things about you your reader may not know — I think I’ve done this many times already so I’ll do that with Kitshka in mind ;-)
3. Nominate 15 bloggers for the award — 15… I am never gonna be able to nap and play with my human tonight!

Here are the 7 things you didn’t know about Kitshka:
=^.^= She’s only 1.1 lb
=^.^= She is trying to eat out of everyone’s bowl and plate (yes that includes the humans and she seems hungrier than Milou!)
=^.^= She was born one day before my human’s birthday
=^.^= She prefers to be on the ground than in the air
=^.^= She bites the humans already with her teenie tiny teeth
=^.^= She’s not afraid of Milou’s hissing
=^.^= She had a sister that was adopted by someone else (or was it a brother?)

Now regarding my 15 nominations:
=^.^= Jet at Hey… It’s Jet Here
=^.^= Clowie at Clowie’s Corner
=^.^= My new furriends at Repositorio de Marilia
=^.^= My new furriends at Histoire de Chats
=^.^= Abby and family at Manx Mnews
=^.^= Basil
=^.^= Mollie & Alfie
=^.^= AnimalCouriers
=^.^= My furriends at Twintkletoe Tails
=^.^= Sally, Pit and family at A German Expat’s Life in Texas
=^.^= My good furriend Savvy at Savannah’s Paw Tracks
=^.^= Kat the Queen (and everyone) at lemonysqueezes
=^.^= The Cherry City Kitties
=^.^= My furriends at RumbleBum
=^.^= My furriend Bowie

Those are in no particular order. I wish I could give those to more of my readers but I think making a selection now and then enables us to visit new bloggies of furriends we may not know. I know I like to check the lists of furry bloggers for bloggies I don’t know yet ;-)
If you already have one of these awards, consider it as a token of my great appreciation for your bloggie.

Now I have to let know everyone… I think I will do that partly tonight and partly tomorrow. But maybe tomorrow.

Purrs and nite-nite to everyone!

Miss Satchie and family: if you’re reading, we thought a lot about you yesterday. Let me explain.

So the humans brought Frisco to the vet to make sure he was in good health and so he would get his vaccines. Frisco is in perfect health but the vet decided to check, to be sure you know, that he was a boy.

Well…

No, the kiddie is a little girl. MOL!

Of course we all love her the same (Milou’s still hissing too) but the humans decided to change her name to Kitshka (They wouldn’t tell me why this name!).

You Go Girl!

P.S.: Sorry, awards acceptance tomorrow. I need a nap now.

Two weeks ago I had started a post about the day my human adopted me. Here is a video to complete it!

It is a video of me arriving in my new home. If you watch long enough, you will be able to see Grouik and the first time we met!

I hope you liked this little retrospective (vocab builder) =^.^=

Hiya Furriends!

Sorry again for the long silence. After her seminar thingie, my human and I played a lot, like you could see on my last post, and then she began having some “important” stuff to do, of which I will tell you more later in this post. You’re going to be surprised! I know I was!!

First, an update on Grouik’s page: it will be up soon. The humans are making videos of all the footage (vocab builder) they have. I will let you know when it is ready.

Secondly, I received several awards from furriends: THANK YOU ALL SO VERY MUCH! Sorry for being so late. I will accept them in a special post on Tuesday (because Mondays are for memories you know, and I already missed one, and I owe you Part 2 of my adoption day).

Thirdly, I want to send a HUGE thank you to Sparkle that had a giveaway of Fancy Feast Mornings a while back and I was one of the winners! I received it this past week. There was my name on the package! Look:

Wow, that’s for me?

Can someone open it now?

What you mean “it’s called mornings and it’s the afternoon already?!” Seriously?!

Okay. Here is my prize, this is morning and we’re still in bed. Wake up and open these for me now.

Human?

Ah, finally! Mmmmh those look good

Can I open these myself? Hmmmm…

For the grace of Ceiling Cat, human, open one!

Are we done with the pictures? Can you open one now?

Thanks to the humans at Nestle Purina for this yummy package. Milou cannot have it (because of his health diet). But me and the kiddie love it.

Yeah, that’s right, that’s my fourth point, the humans being busy: I’m no longer the youngest member of our family. Sniff.

Friday evening, they came back home with a kitten! Look at him:

His name is Frisco. He cannot stop moving! Except when he takes long naps.

Well, okay, okay, I will be able to get over it and play with him (we have already started to play together actually), but at first it was kind of scary: are the humans going to exchange us for this kitten, will my human keep on giving me treats, cuddles, and everything?

Milou didn’t want to get it at first. We both had to make it clear who was the Boss here (Hey Newbie, we were here first!).

All in all, Frisco is, I must admit, fun, and I will finally have a furry friend to play with. BUT, I say the humans could have asked (Gee, Milou is now hissing at everyone in the house again). For example, yesterday night, I surprised my human joyfully playing with the little fur ball. I was outraged! She saw that and tried to make up for it, but it was too late: no cuddles, no petting, no purring, no nothing but the back of disrespect! Was she going to replace me just like that?!

But today we played, both with the human and the kiddie so I think it might – might – be a good thing. If the kiddie stops eating food from my bowl! Ah kids!

Here are some pics of the both of us. Sorry they’re blurry, but Frisco can’t stop moving!

Fly Free Fangie

We were so sad to learn that Fang has left for the rainbow bridge. If you can, please take a minute to send purrs to Fang’s human and say goodbye to sweet Fangie.
His human has also written a beautiful tribute to Fangie.

We are very sad tonight.

catself

I am beyond sad to say Fang died this morning.

I am so glad to have known him.  I am so glad we had a wonderful life together. I am so glad Bugs is here beside me as I write this, being so sweet.

I took the last picture of Fang, above, two days ago.  Doesn’t he look well?

Here’s another one of him, from a few days before that.

Isn’t it plain that he was having a good life?  I wanted him to have a good life more than I can say.

I am glad he was taken suddenly.  I’m glad yesterday, his last day on this earth, was just as usual.  Peaceful.  Happy.  There was no sign.

But early this morning he woke me crying out.  I found him on the bathroom floor.  He had tried to make it to the litter box and couldn’t quite get there. …

Guarding the castle

I’m starting to miss my human a little bit again. But her husband says she’ll be back tonight. Yippee!

In the meantime, I am guarding her castle, err, my desk (remember where she left her mess?) against any intruder, human or furry intruders alike!

Since my human is again gone for the week to another of these seminar thingies, I thought I might as well go fishing!

Please forgive the mess my human left behind. This is her desk. Well, no, sorry, this is my desk but this is her mess.

Anyway, the humans say to get fish you need to fish or go fishing. So fishing I went. But there were no salmon to fish. No fish at all actually. Nothing but Milou…

. . .

Meeeeeee-looooooo…

We’re a little late reblogging this but some of you might have missed it (like we did initially). So check these wonderful paintings of Japanese Cats at Myau Myau’s photo gallery.

Myau Myau's photo gallery

Cat lovers had better to go to watch Ukiyoe cats images exhibition at Ukiyoe Ota memorial Museum of Art at Harajyuku, if you stay in Tokyo. It will finish on July 26th (THU) 2012. These cats are wearing kimonos, dancing, playing Kabuki, eating, drinking, frightening people, taking a bath, wedding and so on. They are splendid works for Kuniyoshi school members at Edo period.
