Tunnel Envy

My tunnel is super cool and super fun to play with, in, around! I haven’t used it to teleport yet but K and I had lots of fun chasing each over through it.

Needless to say that everyone here, except the humans – Thank Ceiling Cat! – wants to play with it!

Here are the usual suspects, waiting for their turn.

Of course, you’ve seen Kitshka already. Look at Milou.

If only he would stop hissing at me all the time, we could play together!

Have a great, playful Sunday, everyone!

So, as you know, Texas celebrated his 7th purrthday last week. One of his gifts was a super cool tunnel!

I have been having lots of fun with it. I LOVE it!

I wonder if I could use the lights to teleport Quill and Greyson here…

Hiya everyone!

First of all, the VBP post will be posted exceptionally (VBP) by Kitshka tomorrow.

Now to really impawtant things.

How are you doing today? I’m glad that you came because my human has been preparing some treats for my purrthday just for me and I want to share them with my furriends! That’s you!

First things first: look at the beautiful cards I received from my furriends!

My very good furriend, Sammy!

Thank you Sammy! I love your hat!

My sweetest furriend, Savannah!

It’s an honor to have such a beautiful Ladycat sending me a card!

My human’s mother – the best cat sitter EVER! – sent me this yummy cupcake on Facebook!

purrfect cupcake

Doesn’t it look yummy? I bet it’s tuna!

And I also received chicken from Vincent, one of my Facebook fans!

Oh! I almost forgot: my vet sent me a cool ecard too!

Thank you all so furry much! And thank you to all of you who left wishes on my Facebook profile!

Look what I got!

4 different bags of treats, catnip puffs, a catnip pepper and… a tunnel! I love my catnip pepper already!

The tunnel is amazing! It sounds like crinkly paper and there are lights!

I received my best favorite ever food from Europe, thanks to Janina!

And as a cake, my human wanted to make me a tuna cake BUT since I had received all this wonderful food from France, I had my favorite: Tuna & Shrimps!

There is some for everyone, so help yourself! There are treats too! Go ahead! You can taste them all!

Then we can go play in my new tunnel!

Finally, the human had this weird idea to bake something for your humans too. When she told me what she baked, I was shocked! SHOCKED!

Wanna know what it is?

This could be part of our VBP post… take notes Kitshka.

Okay I tell you…

Cat’s tongues! Yes, in French, des langues de chat!

Have no fear! Those are just biscuits that have the shape of our tongues. Ah! Humans really!

You can throw some to your humans, and let’s have fun!

I want to pawty!

That’s what’s left of it.

The pom-pom of the Cat-a-pole that is.

See the difference?

I am so proud of myself! I nom-ed it ’til the end!

I thought the female human would be proud to see my prowess when she woke up.

But she was not really pleased. That’s because of what was behind me. What was left of the pom-pom.

Shouldn’t I be proud? Now what I’d like to know is when the human is going to order a new one. She says I have to wait a bit because I destroyed it. I didn’t! I nom-ed it! That’s different!

Also, as evidenced by the pics above, the female human is not taking good pictures when just out of bed.

Also, the humans do keep the cat-a-pole in a closet but I had managed to grab the pom-pom and go hide it some place (I can’t tell where). That’s also why they were not pleased with my prowess, you see.

Remember when I had won this fabulous toy that is the cat-a-pole?
Well, the prize also included some great toys from Moderncat (now Hauspanther.com), as well as litter (World’s best cat litter) and a lickety stick (but we’ll have a post about those last two tomorrow or on Sunday).

We really wanted to post pictures because we love these toys, AND I think it is the least we can do to say thank you. But that was a period when the human was super busy (huh-oh, looks like more busy-ness is to come) and we never did.

So here are some pictures… and a video of Kitshka!

[You can click on any picture to get a bigger version in the slideshow.]

My preference went to the ModKicker, which smelled good catnip! Kitshka and I both like the Felt Rollers, but Kitshka is playing with them more than I do. She is also having fun with the Junk Food Flyer but her favorite one, actually really one of her favorite toys EVER (she takes it everywhere in the house), is the Lynks Felted Wool Toy! She loves it!

So, we want to say THANK YOU to Zee & Zoey and Moderncat for the fun!

The other day I was looking for my silvervine fishie that my human had ordered at Nip & Bones for Christmas FOR ME. Remember my silvervine fishie?

Well, look what I saw! First Kitshka…

Then Milou!! Milou is always stealing my stuff!

Look at how he abused my little fishie!

LOOK AT THIS! He kissed my fishie!!

Now if you’ll excuse me, I need to nom my fishie to show everyone whose fishie it is!

I don’t know what I love best: my fishie or the silvervine in its tummy. I lick it, I nom it, I play rough with it… okay sometimes I kiss it too. Everybody needs a little love, even silvervine fishies.

Nobody is allowed to touch my fishie though. Not even Kitshka. This is MY fishie.

You can click on any picture if you want a bigger me on your screen. Who wouldn’t want a bigger me on their screen? Not you, I hope!

Let’s start with WordPress and issues with comments and the reader. For a couple of months now, there have been some bugs (not the yummy ones) with both:

  1.  When some of my regular readers try to comment, their comments are sometimes, although not always, sent to the “spam” or to the “to-be-approved” folders. There doesn’t seem to have any consistency (VBP) regarding who or when some of my furriends get sent to these folders instead of their comments being instantly published,
  2. The WordPress reader seems not to have been working (and not just for me) for some time now. Result is while I started following some new WordPress blogs, I can’t ask to receive notifications or see the new posts.

If you’re in one of these categories, and have noticed some problems I apologize on behalf of, yes, WordPress. Hopefully they are going to make things work better in 2013.

Nevertheless, I don’t want to complain too much as they make available for free a wonderful tool that enabled me to find new furriends all around the world. So thank you and keep up the good work, WordPress!

~~~
I thought I would show you some pictures of what we got from our humans, for Christmas. I’ll also do another post later with pictures of our Secret Paws lovely package – thanks to Marg and her furry family!
So, from the humans, we got a Pet Fusion Cat Lounge. We love it!
We also got a selection of toys from Nips & Bones, you know the ones that smell really good!
I got a silvervine fishie. I love my fishie. AND SILVERVINE!
Kitshka and I also each got one of the new Neko flies! Here you can see me play with one of the (silly) humans:
Milou got a catnip heart and a honeysuckle octopus:
Kitshka got, well, a neko fly (but she hasn’t played with it yet, she played with mine – hmpf) and a lizard wool toy:
So yes, basically, while Milou and I were getting a little high checking our sense of smell was working, Kitshka nomed and conquered a lizard. I’m so proud of my little sis!
See you tomorrow for the last day of 2012! And remember on January 1st, it is one of my best furriends ever’s birthday: it’s Sammy‘s birthday and he’s hosting a pawty!
Today, Mademoiselle Kitshka is 6 month old! Happy birthday, Kitshka!
Now that you’re almost not a kitten anymore, could you stop playing with my tail? What? No. Pfft. Okay.
Here are pictures of little K. striking a paws on (in?) one of our Christmas gifts!
Since today is Boxing Day, we didn’t want to miss it! We LOVE boxes! And that is part of the wonderfulness of Christmas: boxes left behind!
I know on this day we are supposed to give our humans a gift, but aren’t we, kitties, a year-long gift, really?
~~~

And last but not least, I would like to say thank you to Ann at Pawsitively Pets for making me a drummer kitty in her fabulous Anipal Tribute to the 12 Days of Christmas. Check it out, it is fantastic! Here’s little not-so-old me:

Hiya! This is Milou blogging today!

Texas told me if I wanted to blog I could. He says he is too ashamed to blog before his human help him visit his furriends. He says he’s on a strike. Whatever that means.
Kitshka? Well, Kitshka is siding with Texas, of course!

So I take my chance to blog!

You noticed that Kitshka wasn’t too interested in her post-op (VBP) bunny.
I thought the bunny might feel a little alone, so I thought I would console him. Okay, plus he had nip in his pants. What? That’s true!

Come closer, little bunny...

Just some things before we call it a day at our home.

=^.^= Some of my furriends’ humans asked for my human’s tiramisu buche recipe. Hmpf. Seriously? Okay, you can find it on her blog in English and in French. There is a picture of Kitshka that she has not posted on my blog. Double hmpf.
You’d better make me taste mascarpone next time, human!

=^.^= We want to wish our Jewish furriends a HAPPY HANUKKAH! There’s a Chanukah Blog Crawl starting today. Check it out!

=^.^= Kitshka has a new pink, catnip-packed, bunny friend. My human had got it especially for her, for after her operation.

But to say the truth, I think the bunny was more excited than Kitshka. She was more interested in what Milou was doing. She’s almost back to normal ;-)

[The awards post will come later today – I have something to show you first]

Did you know that our furriends Star and Leo, from Celestial Kitties, and their human, are running a Christmas Fundraiser for Winnie’s Wish?

WWchristmas fundraiser banner

Star’s and Leo’s human, Andrea, is making (herself! – it’s not my human who could do that!) beautiful Christmas ornaments, some of which can even be purrsonalized with our names!

Here are ours:

Xmas-Ornaments_01

You can even ask for catnip inside. Since the humans won’t have a Christmas Tree (they are afraid we Kitshka will destroy it), the ornaments serve as toys for us. Yep. Ours have catnip.

For a donation of $15 you get three ornaments. Additional ornaments are $3 each.

Every dollar above postage and a very tiny materials amount goes to Winnie’s Wish! That’s about $12 a basic set! Winnie’s Wish is dedicated to rescuing abandoned or feral kitties and finding them great homes where they can be loved for the rest of their lives!

Go check the details here!

They were instantly successful with us. They are beautiful, smell sooooo good and make great pillows too!

Look at my reaction first!
[click on any picture to biggify]

Kitshka was first hesitant, but that didn’t last long!
[click on any picture to biggify]

Milou was a little shy because he’s not used to being featured on a blog…

Okay Milou. Thanks for this but the goal was to play with the ornament. Never mind.

As the nip guru, I of course had to try each and every ornament, to make sure the nip was extra great quality. It was.

What? I know it's Milou's!

What? I know it’s Milou’s!

Yes, I know it's Kitshka's!

Yes, I know it’s Kitshka’s!

Finally, the long-awaited post I told you about is here! Woo-ooh!

~~~
Most of my readers probably know that Katie of Glogirly was recently elected Cat Ruler of the World in a contest in which the real winners were the shelters each of the cat-idates was supporting (and especially the new ruler’s choice, here Blind Cat Rescue).
The great election contest was organized by Zee & Zoey and their human Ms. Deb Barnes (Hiya!). The contest was backed by generous sponsors who donated meals, litter and other prizes to shelters. Please follow the link just above for all the details.
Some of the kitties voting also won some prizes! I was one of the lucky Facebook winners!!
We first received the Cat-A-Pole, directly from Ms. Barnes who added a sweet little card!
Okay, the picture isn’t great, but it’s just to give you an idea of its size and everything. Just check the website of the toy for more details.
It was an instant success with me.
The little fur ball with feathers, at the end of the pole, moves in all unexpected directions! Plus it seems the humans get tired less quickly which means we can play longer! So the toy is more enjoyable to both the human (I know, we don’t care much about them but if that can make them play longer ;-) and the kitty.
Milou did play a bit with it too but the human didn’t have the time to take pictures. Truth is, tornado Kitshka spotted the toy and took immediately possession of it. Literally.
She enjoys the Cat-a-Pole so much that I or Milou cannot play with it when she is in the room. Want me to prove it? Check the following video. Don’t forget to turn your speakers on to hear her growling and hissing at the beginning (understand: “the toy is mine!”). And don’t miss the end when she helps the human edit the video.
[If you cannot see the video from my blog, click here]
The toy was – is – a huge success! Thanks to Ms. Barnes and Cat-a-Pole!
When I arrived at my furever home as a kitten, I was amazed at all the toys I could find in my human’s (soon to be mine) home.
One thing I found very exciting and funny was fruits that were around. Some could roll! Of course, it soon became forbidden (my human pretended that some fruits could be dangerous) – as was jumping and walking on the table to get to them. But I couldn’t care less.
Until the fruits disappeared from my sight. Hmph.
What was your favorite toy as a kitten?
Many things happened while my human was doing something else than posting on my blog…
But first things first: thank you all for sending purrs and messages to Dayak. Her Mom left a message in the comments of my post to say that she was sleeping a lot due to the medication. We are waiting for more news and hope she is going to be better really soon. I keep sending purrs.
In other news, from my home this time, Kitshka has deaded another toy. Really deaded.
See, Spitty? This one has no magical powers I’m afraid and will not come back to life. It never was a favorite of mine or Grouik or Milou, but Kitshka liked it a LOT. As you can obviously guess. But that’s okay because we have other toys. More on this in the days to come ;-)
Some time ago, I was one of the lucky winners of a Purina Be Happy T-Shirt over at Cat Chat. Thanks to Cody and Caren!
So my human and I went to the site (actually their Facebook page) where we could make our own t-shirt. Because you see, the coolest part was that we could “make” the t-shirt the way it pleased us me. So I told my human to make it about me.
Guess what? Yep, she messed up. Check the t-shirt.
It is a very nice t-shirt but how is it about me?
Doesn’t smell like me…
Is the kitty supposed to be me? Just wondering because I don’t have any fishbowl to fish from here…
Here’s what I think about you making this t-shirt a tribute to me…
Busy busy busy…
Shhh shhh!
What?! Yes, human, you can wear this nice t-shirt… as long as you get me a fishbowl with a magical fishie inside, like Spitty’s
Actually, I don’t really need the fishbowl. I’ll be magnanimous (VBP): the magical fishie alone will do.
Thanks to Cody and Caren and Purina and Happy Caturday everyone!
Hiya my furriends, furry and human furriends alike!
I cannot believe it’s been a year since I first started blogging here! WoW!
I want to thank all of you who have visited my blog, liked posts and/or commented. It’s been quite a year and I am so glad I found so many furriends along the way.
I don’t want to single out just a couple of you but… I remember that among my very earliest followers (apart from family – Hiya Janina!) were the beautiful Sparkle, the adorable Catpurrology, Sweet Savannah and my good furriend Sammy! I’m not sure how I found you all or how you found me but I’m glad to know you! Then most of my furriends readers followed. I love you all so much!
To all my readers I send purrs today to thank you for coming and visiting my blog.
There are a couple of my earliest readers who didn’t have blogs that I do not see anymore. I hope you are doing fine too.
So, to celebrate, I was so so glad to discover that my human had bought me two gifts: a new toy, filled with catnip (a great toy – they claim it has the best catnip of the universe but unless they buy it from my furriends at the Katnip Lounge, it cannot be the best of the universe, sorry) and new Greenies treats (the SmartBites ones!) and they are yummy!
You think I should get my human something (because of the typing you know)? Well, since I’m doing all the cleaning on the little brat sister, I might be able to get her a fur ball for tonight =^.^=
Below are some pics and a video (thanks to my human’s husband!) of me enjoying my new toy and my first blog anniversary! Please come join me and have fun!
If you have a minute, I’d love to hear in the comments about a particular post you may have enjoyed and remembered!
THANK YOU ALL! I hope I’m starting another great year and I hope to spend it with y’all =^.^=
Today is Kitshka’s birthday. She is two months old. It is her first birthday at our home. Her home =^.^=
Despite the fact that she has already stolen all of our toys, my human bought her a new one for her first birthday with us, a Kong Cozie Kickeroo. It appears to be some kind of blue raccoon.
The label on the toy says “Your cat will love you for it.” Ahah! My human is trying to buy my little sister’s love! Well, here she is, playing with it during… about 1 minute and 18 seconds. Kids.
Happy Birthday Kitshka! Don’t forget tonight you’ll have a little special treat too. Well, that’s usually what my human is doing for me ;-)
As promised yesterday, here is my new video. Remember that if you like it, you can nominate it for the Internet Cat Video Film Festival here (reminder about what the festival is about here).
Just a few words about this video.
I love olives. My human once caught me licking olives on her table. Ooops. The good part is that she decided to give me one as a treat from time to time. She DID ask two vets if it was okay and they said it was if I get only one once in a while (also check here and here).
Olives have a stronger effect on me than catnip. I love to smell them and if the olive smells very good and my human is keeping it too long between her fingers, I can bite the fingers to get it (olive effect). The good thing with olives is that it can also be used as a toy! Most of the time I just eat part of it after playing.
Not all cats love olives though. Grouik and Milou for example couldn’t care less. So, use your good judgement, humans.
I have to say that I was very not happy when my human got an iPad about 2 years ago. More time I got stolen.
Anyway, about a year ago, she came to me and Milou, all happy to show us what she calls an app (?!), as if it was some kind of toy for us. But that was not funny. Yes, there was something moving on the little black screen. Was it real? No. Was it funny? No. Did it smell catnip? No.
[My human cannot find the pics of me and Milou in front of this silly thing. I really have to start monitoring my human’s work!]
Here is more about the app:
In 2011, he decided to add to his creative portfolio by devising a Friskies app for the Apple iPad featuring simple video games that humans could play with their cats. True, most cats walk by the iPad and pay no bother. But some of the more curious ones find the floating fish on the iPad screen interesting enough to paw. Nestle Purina’s experiment has garnered 500,000 downloads so far.
Ok. Just because this app is not sophisticated enough doesn’t mean we are not curious. Milou and I are very curious cats. And yes I know about Karl Lagerfeld’s cat but Choupette is just a kid!
Now if you would excuse me, I have more important things to do than to play with a silly human toy. I need a nap.
I was nice. My half-brother was naughty. Naughty-naughty.
Santa Paws came and brought me cool gifts:
A new bed
A noisy little red bag
A couple of toys
And treats (er, sorry no pics here, ahem).
But I have questions about Santa Paws, more and more questions every year.
First my human spent all Friday, Dec. 23 looking outside, repeating “when is Fedex going to deliver Texas’ gift?” What Fedex is, she wouldn’t say. Is it some kind of translation for Santa Paws in human?
Then around 7 pm, when my human was having dinner with her male human, there was a bright light on the deck, clearly visible because it was dark outside. Then a loud knock on the door. Humans are noisy, aren’t they? My human ran to the door. I heard “UPS”, she said thanks and came back inside with a huge box saying “Look Texas, Santa Paws came for you”. But Friday was only Dec. 23. Hmmm.
She went back to dinner and left the box unattended. I repeat she said: “Look Texas, Santa Paws came for you.” What was I supposed to understand? So what did I do?
I opened the box! And there was a big comfy plastic bag with something brown inside. My human ran to me saying “no no no, you can’t open it! Awww… he opened it! What a clever little kitty!” You bet I’m clever. Like there was anything difficult in opening a box. She continued: “well well, I guess I can give you the present Santa brought to you now, since you saw it!” And here came the bed.
See, humans can be curious creatures. Sometimes I wonder whether they wouldn’t tend to react to some kind of reverse, reverse psychology with us. Which is not exactly clever. They claim they want us to be nice. But they “aww” us when we misbehave. They should know cats do exactly what they want to do. Humans aren’t as smart as we are. But I digress. Reverse psychology so. Sparkle’s post here tends to confirm my thoughts.
Anyway, my human was all happy because I opened the box and I was happy because… I had a brand new box, er, bed and lots of wrapping paper.
I was happy until Milou, one of my half-brothers, seized the occasion that I was enjoying all the cool things of Christmas (mainly wrapping paper) to steal my new bed!
My human bravely tried to take him out. Her male human wanted him to stay in. Pfft, Milou is ALWAYS stealing my stuff. See?
But in the spirit of Christmas, and to please our humans, Milou and I decided to make a truce. If only for a couple of hours ;-)
Hope you had a wonderful Christmas and Santa Paws didn’t forget you!
Purrzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz…
My list to Santa Paws
My human likes to surf the Internet. These days she has been looking for presents for Christmas for her human, my brothers and I.
I was actually quite glad to learn that we, cats, were not excluded from Christmas and marketers’ targets. Unfortunately, I saw the best of goodies for us cats as well as the worst (like this – a no-no for me). Well, the same goes for humans, by the way.
So here’s my top five to Santa Paws… and my human (Come on! I’m 5! I know my human helps Santa Paws do his shopping!)
  1. A new bed (those ones look comfortable)
  2. Thrill treats – plenty!
  3. A Thermo Blanket
  4. Cat toy catnip Yule log, or one of these catnip toys
  5. A subscription to Cat Fancy Magazine
What is your list for Santa?
