Quick Update on Milou

Thank you so very much to all of you who left get-well wishes and purrs and prayers for Milou.
Thank you also to Ann of Zoolatry for sharing the info with this beautiful graphic of hers.

We are very moved by all your purrs and thoughts and I am sure Milou can feel the love!

He is spending tonight at the vet again unfortunately. He is still not eating and is on IV. The infection also reached the kidney :-( So the vet will have to cure him of the infection before checking what’s wrong with the intestines.

Hopefully, we can get him home tomorrow. I will keep you posted. I might not post anything other than an update tomorrow.

Thanks again for your support.

[Still not sure what VBP is? Check here.]

I admit it, and not reluctantly (VBP), I have been having fun finding idioms and expressions related to kitties both in English and in French. This is my third post (first here, second there) and I want to mention all the expressions you shared.

Yes, I think this bi-cultural (VBP) interest is the cat’s meow… or the cat’s pyjamas.

Unfortunately, there is no exact French translation for these expressions, at least none with the word cat. An appropriate translation, depending on the context, could be le fin du fin (the best of the best, or la crème de la crème – nom!).

Now, let me illustrate the cat’s meow according to Kitshka (we hope we get it right).

Would you say my tocks are the cat’s meow for Kitshka?

If you are interested in learning more about French expressions that are about cats, we would like to suggest this page done by our furriends at Autour des Chats. It is very well done!
We will also keep on featuring (VBP) French and English expressions here =^.^=

It snowed all day here. Still does.
As we prepare for the blizzard and my human is uncooperative busy, we might only visit and comment sporadically. I am so sorry for that. But I made my human swear she would make up for it somehow by the end of the week =^.^=

Meanwhile, staying warm isn’t the only activity our little Kitshka has. She struck a pose for the human because she thinks all this snow in the background makes her prettier.
Sigh. Ladycats, really…

Stay warm and dry my furriends experiencing the blizzard!

Dayak needs some purrs

My bloggies furriends, with my human being completely inconsistent, I discovered only today that a French bloggie furriend had health issues with skin blotches (I think that’s how we say in English) over her body that are very itchy.

My furriend’s name is Dayak and Dayak’s vet prescribed cortisone to help her.

If you have a minute today, would you mind stopping by her bloggie or send some purrs?

Here is her last post and here is the homepage to her blog.

If you want to leave a comment, click on “laisser un commentaire” and leave your name, email or blog url (optional) and comment and don’t forget to tick the little box (the text says that racial insults are forbidden by law)

I hope she gets better real soon! We’re sending lots of purrs sweetie! Pleins de ronrons pour toi !

Alright furriends, I am so not pleased with my human and her not giving me time to 1) post on my blog, 2) visit all my furriends’ bloggies (I tried this but didn’t manage to visit all of you yet – sorry).

Sooooo, being a French kitty, I’m threatening to STRIKE: no more purrs, no more letting my human pet me if we are not back by THIS Friday (and have additional dried tuna treats everyday and tuna juice twice a week)! You hear me human? Of course I will train Kitshka in the art of French strike.

Kitshka has started making banners out of Christmas gift paper she found behind a closet, hidden (!). Agreed, she needs a little more practice.

Today, we have planned a sit-in in front of the desk.

Oh and human, we KNOW where the Greenies are. So Friday is the lastest limit.

[My human was scared enough about the no-purring threat that she helped me post this one, so Kitshka and I have high hopes]

Remember a couple of days ago when I explained how to get your human’s attention when your human was reading in bed? Well, it looks like I got a little too much attention. She decided she wanted some snuggling time instead of reading!

Seriously, what’s with the snuggles and kisses?! I just need to play and get some tuna!

Human! What are all the Ladycats reading my blog going to think now?! I’m a grown Mancat for Ceiling Cat sake!

Hiya furriends,

I know I haven’t posted or visited your blog for a couple of days now. I apologize. But I have a good reason.

We were so in the spirit of Labor Day Kitshka and I, with our human laboring, that we thought we should nap not only for us, but for our humans too. Aren’t we kind kitties?

We will be answering your comments and visiting your blog some time today, after our nap =^.^=

In the meantime, here are some napping techniques to help your human benefit from your napping.

Curled-up-position, or the Cat (sometimes mispronounced “Chi”) position – Let the energy flow all around

On the side position – Let’s direct the energy in the good direction

The yin-yang-kinda position – We provide the napping while the humans provide the laboring. We all have our part to play.

This position is very powerful. Let me show you how much it is powerful.

Can you feel the energy?

The top-down position – A great way to share the energy, from the top

Occupy-the-human’s-desk position – Obviously, my human’s husband’s desk needs a little “cleansing energy”

The raised-behind position – A revolutionary technique developed by Kitshka, and supervised by myself

The long-distance position – The greater the length of kitties in the house, the better

Obviously, as you can see, Kitshka shows great and promising skills. She has a good master =^.^=

Hiya my furriends!

I finally get to dictate my post to my human to thank you all for the awards you nominated me for.
(Yes, I only get the laptop back now, because after the seminar thingie, my human’s new excuse is webinar thingies…).

Let me thank my very good furriend Sammy for nominating me for the Thinking of You blog award. What a wonderful award, especially for a blogger! Thank you so much, Sammy.

This is a brand new award and I will go back to the acceptance rules in a minute =^.^=

Thank you to Angelswhisper and Zac for nominating me for the One Lovely Blog Award. I already have this award but I am very grateful to receive it from you too, and I’m sending lots of purrs your way!

Zac also mentioned a Grazie/My Beautiful Lipstick Award that gained me a big kiss/lick! Thanks Zac! I would like to dedicate this award to one reader especially and that’s anonymoushedonist (because of the beautiful lipstick, you know ;-)

Another award I didn’t have is the Beautiful Blogger Award. I was nominated by my furriend Easy and my new human furriends at the Bonny Blog. Thank you so very much to Easy and the Bonny Blog! It’s nice to be called a “beautiful blogger” ;-)

The rules to accept the Thinking of You Award:
1. Thank and link back to the sender — Done =^.^=
2. Tell seven things that I love and that I think about daily — Now that’s easy, check below!
3. Pass the award to seven other blogs — Again check below

Here are my seven things that I love and think about daily:
=^.^= Fresh shrimps
=^.^= Fresh chicken
=^.^= Opening my human’s closet for shoes and sleeping on them
=^.^= Playing with my kragonfly
=^.^= Napping on the bed or elsewhere
=^.^= Yummy Almo Nature wet food that I used to have in France
=^.^= My human and especially when I am napping and she is putting her head next to me to hear me purr – makes me purr even more!

Now the 7 blogs I nominate:
=^.^= Merlin especially (and his entire family too) at CatWisdom101
=^.^= angelswhisper
=^.^= Zac The All Black
=^.^= Janina
=^.^= All my furriends at the Katnip Lounge
=^.^= Lisa at ft. // la vie éclectique
=^.^= Sundae and family at The Days of Mine

I will let them know as soon as I post this article.

The rules to accept the Beautiful Blogger Award:
1. Thank and link back to the sender — Done too
2. Tell 7 things about you your reader may not know — I think I’ve done this many times already so I’ll do that with Kitshka in mind ;-)
3. Nominate 15 bloggers for the award — 15… I am never gonna be able to nap and play with my human tonight!

Here are the 7 things you didn’t know about Kitshka:
=^.^= She’s only 1.1 lb
=^.^= She is trying to eat out of everyone’s bowl and plate (yes that includes the humans and she seems hungrier than Milou!)
=^.^= She was born one day before my human’s birthday
=^.^= She prefers to be on the ground than in the air
=^.^= She bites the humans already with her teenie tiny teeth
=^.^= She’s not afraid of Milou’s hissing
=^.^= She had a sister that was adopted by someone else (or was it a brother?)

Now regarding my 15 nominations:
=^.^= Jet at Hey… It’s Jet Here
=^.^= Clowie at Clowie’s Corner
=^.^= My new furriends at Repositorio de Marilia
=^.^= My new furriends at Histoire de Chats
=^.^= Abby and family at Manx Mnews
=^.^= Basil
=^.^= Mollie & Alfie
=^.^= AnimalCouriers
=^.^= My furriends at Twintkletoe Tails
=^.^= Sally, Pit and family at A German Expat’s Life in Texas
=^.^= My good furriend Savvy at Savannah’s Paw Tracks
=^.^= Kat the Queen (and everyone) at lemonysqueezes
=^.^= The Cherry City Kitties
=^.^= My furriends at RumbleBum
=^.^= My furriend Bowie

Those are in no particular order. I wish I could give those to more of my readers but I think making a selection now and then enables us to visit new bloggies of furriends we may not know. I know I like to check the lists of furry bloggers for bloggies I don’t know yet ;-)
If you already have one of these awards, consider it as a token of my great appreciation for your bloggie.

Now I have to let know everyone… I think I will do that partly tonight and partly tomorrow. But maybe tomorrow.

Purrs and nite-nite to everyone!

But the center is in France :-/

450 cats and 200 dogs are in a full board hotel in Elven. Twelve years ago, the company Diana Pet Food set up one of the biggest testing centers for pets in the world there, in order to assess what food they like best. Kibbles and pâtées makers love it.

According to the article, cats live the good life in this place similar to a “3-star hotel” and can choose the food they prefer.

That’s exactly the goal of this “3-star hotel” for dogs and cats, based in Elven (Morbihan, France) . . . . to test the attraction of the pets to the ingredients that Diana Pet Food prepares in order to go with kibbles and pâtées. Powders or potions, “made with natural ingredients,” that the company will sell to Purina, Mars Royal Canin, or retailer groups brands…, the biggest names in animal food. “We hold 55% of the global market of appetence factors,” explains Jean-Pierre Rivery, Diana Pet Food’s President.

Apparently, there are 200 dogs and 450 cats living there. It is kind of like human homes only with a lot more food options.

What bothers me a little is that dogs and cats come very young from breeders and “work’ there only for a period of 4 to 5 years. Then they are “given for adoption.” But we all know that adult cats (and dogs I guess?) are less wanted when they are already adults…

They also say that the food has to smell good to… humans!

In Elven, humans give their opinion. “We must give satisfaction to the animal and the smell must please their owner” [sic!] analyzes Isabelle Guiller, R&D Director. “If it smells bad he [the human] won’t buy it again.” But owners [geez!] are received in white, sterile cubicles. For in Elven, the VIP room is for [pets].

There’s a video in the article. It’s in French but you can see a little bit the testing center.

So what do you think?

My furriends, I am so glad to say that the sun is back and I am enjoying myself outside!

I also played with my human, making myself clear that only I decided when she could get a picture of me, using Milou’s and Sparkle’s techniques. See? No picture please!

There’s also plenty of activities around.

What’s that?

What was that sound?!

Pfft, that’s only Grouik!

The humans bought another piece of furniture the other day. They call it a desk. The nice part is that I can jump on it!

I decided I would be nice to them the other day and help them by supervising the assembling of the desk.

The humans being, well, humans, I had to help too. It was tiring.

Needless to say that, after that, I needed a well-deserved nap. But at least the desk was assembled properly!

What would humans do without us?

So while I was training hard for the Couch-a-thon, my human forgot to register me! See how hard at work I am:

I have been praticing a daily training since at least December! Check here, that’s the proof! We all have been practicing. But I have to say that Milou and I have been more serious about it than Grouik.

Actually, I work so hard, that the black couch has turned partly white (my human’s not particularly happy about it, but a cat gotta do what he gotta do!). See?

So I hope it is not too late to register. Below is my registration fee: fresh catnip. Click on it to see how fresh and beautiful it is!

Now if you don’t mind I have to go back to napping.

Have you noticed how humans generally hate Mondays and tend to do everything thinking about how the weekend was so nice and why is it that Monday’s already here?

In French, humans have a funny expression to illustrate the phenomenon. When they are asked “how are you today?” on a Monday, they reply “Comme un lundi !” meaning “Like on any Monday!” which would really mean “how do you expect me to be doing? It’s Monday!”

Frankly, I don’t understand that: Monday is just another day. But… that gave me an idea for a series of posts.

Before I had my own blog, I had my own Facebook page (I couldn’t have a Facebook profile because of my name… go figure!), and even before, my own Twitter account.

On my Facebook page I shared some pictures of me that I liked, when I was still living in France. So I thought I would share some of them with my new furriends. And hopefully those who have already seen them will enjoy seeing them again.

So Mondays are for memories (of the past weekend, or the past year). And my first post in the series is about my encounter with a snail (snails are for how humans look on Mondays). Hope you like them!

Rain brought something interesting: a snail!

Wow, it’s moving slowly

What’s the smell of snails?

Hmmm… is it really moving?

Hello snail

Hello…

A little too slow for me…

Maybe we can play.

Can you roll?

Hmmm

Sorry my furriends, my human has been very busy the past days.

How was your day? Mine was so-so. I was grounded because the above of my right eye was a little red. It is itching too. My human thinks I am allergic to some plant outside (I had the same problem last year, and so had Milou to a lesser extent, but it went away just like it came… the vet said it might be an allergy) so I could not go outside today.

I successfully ran away twice because I’m just too quick for my human. But other than that, I had to stay inside. Played a little with my human, which was good. Napped a lot. Ate some food.

My human’s husband brought a paper bag tonight. I love paper bags! So I had some fun inside!

How was your day my furriends?

I have to say that these past few weeks have been particularly exciting and I owe this to all my good furriends. I had already received twice the Sunshine Award + the Liebster Award last week.

Now my good friends at Hutch A Good Life nominated me for the Versatile Blogger Award! Thank you so much guys! I appreciate it so very much and I’m sending you tons of purrs!

Purring loudly now…

Purring even louder…

1. Thank the person who gave you this award
Thank you so much to Nibbles, Nutty, Bingo, Buddy and their human!

2. Include a link to their blog
Done!

3. Select 15 blogs/bloggers that you’ve recently discovered or follow regularly. Nominate those 15 bloggers for the Versatile Blogger Award — you might include a link to this site
Here are my 15 nominations, in no particular order:

Nobody.

Yep, furriends. You hear me. Neither Milou, nor me.

What happened? We were starting to fight on the tree inside the house. My human, she grabbed her camera to document how brave and valiant and a good fighter I was (she usually starts screaming our names to have us stop, which is very annoying). So for once, she reacted about correctly.

Her human, what did he do? Grabbed Milou to put him elsewhere and started playing hard with me. You want to play with them humans and they are busy but he chose this moment.

Pfft. I bet I would have won.

I am blasé.

Alright. The title is a little exaggerated. Alright.

But as I stated before somewhere – I can’t remember where – Milou and I have had our funny moments but I always felt like he never really accepted me.

He’s okay to take my stuff but rarely to play with me. I know he is older than I am but still sometimes it does make me sad.

And sometimes, like the other night, it even comes to the point of a fight!

Milou is not happy with me wanting to play with him.

Me not happy with him hissing at me.

So who do you think won? What’s your guess? Look at valiant me!

Hiya furriends! How are you today?

Today I’d like to talk about our humans. I noticed on a couple of blogs – and on mine ahem [ checking behind my human’s hands what she is typing exactly], that humans have been making dumb mistakes like forgetting to post pictures we wanted them to post, or forgetting to answer fan mail, or forgetting to tweet on our page, or… misspelling or making typing mistakes.

Like when Matilda becomes Monica over here.

And you my furriends, although I’m sure you noticed, didn’t say anything, that was so nice of you.

Ahem. This is embarrassing. For my human I mean, of course. Can’t she pay attention? And I don’t want to hear that she is tired. Of course she is! She’s only sleeping 6 to 7 hours a day!

I’m telling you no treats for my human today: no cuddling accepted, no purring on lap. No nothing. No. No need to peg me.

Ah! I’m so not happy with that. I might even bite.

Oh my. What a week! First I got the Sunshine Award. Twice. Now tonight, when my human came back home from the groceries, she told me all excited that All That JazzCat nominated me for the Liebster Blog Award! And she didn’t even think to celebrate by bringing back home some nip! Ah, humans!

But that’s okay, because I am very honored to have been nominated + that gives me the opportunity to be introduced to yet another cool, jazzy furriend: Jazz Cat Jay. Hey furriend!

Frankly, I am positively purringly honored and happy to know all of you furriends. And I hope I can keep you entertained anytime you want to visit (Grouik is taking care of the food ;-) Nah just kidding! Oh my Ceiling Cat! I’m so excited! And I just can’t hide it! I know, I know, I know…)

Soooo… to acknowledge the Liebster Blog Award, I must:

1. Link back to the person who nominated me: Jazz Cat Jay at All That JazzCat

2. Nominate five (5) bloggers who have less than 200 followers (if you can tell).

In no particular order, here are my Liebster Blog nominees:

=^.^= Savannah’s Paw Tracks
=^.^= Chancy the Gardener
=^.^= Lemony Squeezes
=^.^= My Three Moggies
=^.^= Hutch a Good Life

** Please if you accept this “nomination” follow the protocol **

3. Let nominees know by leaving a comment on their sites.

4. Post nomination image on this blog.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I’ll go lay next to my human and purr. Nite nite furriends and many purrs to all!

Here is a sad story with a happy ending. Maloos is an Iranian cat that has been abused in Iran but he is now waiting for his forever home in America. American doctors took care of him.

I’ll let you discover through these articles. I am glad that Maloos is now safe in the United States! Many purrs to the people both in Tehran and in San Francisco who took care of him. And many purrs to Maloos!

Special cat travels from Iran to U.S. for a good home

A special needs cat took an 8,000 mile trip for a good home.
Maloos was found near death on the streets of Iran. Deputy Director of Animal Control Kat Brown says Maloos was, “Stuck to the pavement he couldn’t move around.”
He is forced to walk on his front legs. Brown says, “His left leg was grown into his spine and it had to be removed.”
Maloos has a tiny scar above his nose where he was hit by a bullet. If the saying is true that cats have nine lives, Brown says, “Maloos has gone through 3 or 4 at least.”
A few weeks ago a good Samaritan found him in Tehran and took him into the local shelter, but they could only do so much. Brown says, “They asked us being the city of St. Francis if we could help.”
Little Maloos had a one way ticket to the City by the Bay and found a new home at the city’s Animal Care and Control where they put him on the road to recovery.

More here: Abused Iranian Cat Gets Treatment in U.S.

Many purrs for Maloos!
