I must apologize (again) for my human: I was unable to post a VBP post the past week and only my furriend Savannah posted one here. Thank you, Savannah.

As a reminder (VBP), you can still post your VBP post until tonight for this week and enter the link to your post via Savannah’s post by clicking on the bluey badge.

Between her “work” and her “classes,” my human monopolized (VBP) the computer and ignored our longing (VBP) for blogging and visiting our furriends. Hmpf.

But fear not my furriends, tomorrow there will be a new VBP post AND I will also post the links to the past two weeks’ pawticipants =^.^=

Meanwhile, Kitshka and I are getting ready for Spring, preparing our fur as necessary. Except Kitshka is more interested in playing… (Notice the laser eyes to the human ;-)

Have a great Wednesday everyone!

Are you resolute (VBP) enough with your human’s resolutions?

Just yesterday, I was commenting on Sparkle’s excellent (as always, may I add) post on her resolutions for her human: I had planned this present post for yesterday but… guess what? Yesterday’s post was supposed to be posted the day before yesterday but the day before yesterday, I posted nothing because my human claimed to have hurt herself while doing the house cleaning (how worse an excuse can we get from humans, really?!).

So if I have, for myself, one resolution for 2013, that would be to be more resolute in having my human stick to her resolutions. We have to keep an iron paw on this stuff, because you know, humans can’t really stick to their resolutions.

Note that this resolution for me is really forced on me because of my human. We kitties don’t need no education, er, resolution. Whatever. We are purrfect. On this, again, I salute Sparkle for reminding this to the humans.

So without further ado (VBP), here are my resolutions for my human:

  1. Wake up earlier to feed Kitshka: she won’t bother me because she’s hungry AND that will give you more time to work on my blog
  2. Organize, plan ahead and schedule… and stick to it! In order to help you, human, I have offered you – okay unearthed (VBP) from your library – a book that will help you:
  3. In order to remind you what’s really important, put a sticker on the cover of the book, like this:
  4. Click if you can't see the sticker

  5. Never run out of Greenies again – EVER.

Well, I think that’s a good start. I don’t want to ask too much because, you know, humans have their limits (and these limits are quite… limited).

Do you think I am asking too much? Are you asking more or less of your human?

Thanksgiving is a time for giving thanks:
=^.^= to our humans, when they deserve it
=^.^= to the humans who produce the Greenies
=^.^= to our furriends for visiting our bloggies and for writing bloggies, too

It is also a time when humans give thanks (that’s when we have to be careful because they tend to give extra cuddles and kisses).

And of course, it is a time to relax with our family…

…and to enjoy a lavish (VBP) meal!

From our family to yours: HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

Hiya furriends!

Another 1+ week without being able to blog or read your bloggies… I know my human was trying her best, but since she’s not a kitty, her best just wasn’t enough. Sigh. Sorry.

I have many awards to acknowledge and share, and many furriends to thank. I will be doing this in the days to come, probably one at a time.

In the meantime, here are some warming (I hope!) pictures for those who are in cold areas or (still :-/) without electricity (one of my humans’ friends in CT just got his electricity and Internet back and we know some still haven’t).

[My human is saying that it is stupid since they can’t see the pics if they don’t have electricity. Duh! I know, human! But I’m sending warm thoughts and purrs!]

After this very pointless, human interruption, here are the pics. Yeah, I didn’t looked pleased on the pics because Kitshka and I were having the bestest of naps and my human woke us up with her awwwwwwwws! Do humans and interrupting kitties go together, you think?

Warm purrs to y’all!

Hiya furriends!

Thank you all for your support yesterday! I’m glad to announce that my human was terrified at the idea of my purring strike – and also wanted to keep some of her Christmas paper for Christmas, how strange it may seem! – so we won!

I am back to blogging today (one day before the lastest limit). We didn’t get the extra treats and tuna juice though (the human wasn’t too pleased with the strike threat per se) but we’ll find a way.

We will go back to visiting your bloggies starting today. Yeah!

In the meantime, as proof of goodwill from everyone, the humans decided to build (yet) another shelving thingie to accommodate (Vocab Building Project VBP) more of my human’s books and let Kitshka and I watch supervise.

As you can see, we got everything under control. We were there to help them measure stuff.

We were there to support the humans.

What are you waiting for?
Start the job! We have blogging stuff to do!

Not too bad, human. Keep on keeping on.

Kitshka got a little distracted along the way, but that’s okay, she’s still young.

Tomorrow, I’ll start showing you some of the cool stuff I was so lucky to win! Have a great day my furriends!

Remember a couple of days ago when I explained how to get your human’s attention when your human was reading in bed? Well, it looks like I got a little too much attention. She decided she wanted some snuggling time instead of reading!

Seriously, what’s with the snuggles and kisses?! I just need to play and get some tuna!

Human! What are all the Ladycats reading my blog going to think now?! I’m a grown Mancat for Ceiling Cat sake!

You may remember that I had a technique to get your humans’ attention when they decide to read instead of playing with you. This technique worked on the couch, as you can see on the pictures, but what if your human decides to read in bed?

It is actually no different. It’s on the bed after all, so all you have to do is go sleep on it. The book that is.

Hiya, human! Is it time to sleep already?

Let me check your clock! Oh yes! It is time!

Sorry, no time to read

Sweet dreams!

Hiya furriends,

I did not intend to post today. I wanted to visit your blogs since I am about at least 500 posts late (that’s what gmail is telling me and my human almost fell from her chair when she opened my mailbox today).

But we received an email from my human furriend Janina, telling us that one of her human furriends had posted something on Facebook saying that today, there should be a moratorium on cats on Facebook because there were too many rats out there and instead of striking the pose for Facebook pictures we should go out and hunt rats.

THE NERVE.

We, kitties, have recently been the target of a dirty smear campaign (I won’t post links to the smear campaign articles, you all saw one or two, but instead I want to link to a post from Cat Wisdom 101 that sums up pretty well what I think: here).

Also, I had heard of this cat-free day on the Internet stuff when it first came up. I had liked the reaction of the cat blogosphere. I didn’t intend to do anything special today, except keep on posting as usual because at my home, it is cat-day everyday!

I know my furriend’s furriend’s post on Facebook was meant as a joke. Still, I was a bit shocked to read some of the comments.

Peeps: if you don’t like cat pics, just don’t go watch cat pics on the Internet! You can hide the profiles that post cat pics from your news feed. But don’t ask for a moratorium or worse. Really, I’m telling you, some humans are strange.

We, kitties, just ignore humans or stuff we don’t like. We don’t campaign to have them forbidden.

So anyway, in the spirit of freedom, I want to share more cat pics for those who want more cat pics.

I have created a special Facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/MoCatsDay

We kitties are free spirits. So I refuse we be silenced in any way. No one is forced to visit the page. But this page will exist for those who want to visit it.

If you like the idea, I invite you to visit the page, like it if you like to see cat pics and want to see more, and post a picture of yourself (that’s for kitties) or of your kitty furriend (that’s for humans) on this page.

What do you think, kitties? I say let’s purr in harmony to show the world that kitties rule!

Back in 2010, we had an early, very cold and snowy winter. My human was living and working near Paris, while her husband was living and working in Brussels, Belgium. Don’t ask. Humans stuff. Complicated.

Anyway, they would visit each other during weekends and when I got to stay alone, my human’s Mom was visiting me or pet sitting me at her home. During the Christmas/New Year holidays, they usually spent one in one country and the other in the other (aren’t humans a bit complicated?)

But back in 2010, when my human was going to Brussels for Christmas, it had snowed A LOT just a couple of days before and traffic was bad and chances were my human’s Mom wouldn’t be able to come visit everyday. She had no other pet sitter. Yet she had to go to Brussels for other matters than Christmas too. She knew I’d rather stay in the comfort of my home, but she decided to take me with her because there was no way I was staying alone for a week, of course.

It was very cold outside so she put lots of blankets in my carrier and we went to Brussels together. She had upgraded her ticket to a First Class ticket so that she could easily have the room to take me on her lap all the time. There were not too many people in the train so I even got my own seat.

I hated train though. I am really calm in cars but I fought to get out of my carrier during the 1 hour and 20 minutes of our train trip. My human did her best to comfort me but I didn’t like it at all. It was noisy, moving all the time… Hated it. I know she felt bad about it but once we got out of the train it was okay.

We arrived safe and sound. And I got to visit my half-brothers who had been living with their human there for a couple of months.

The apartment was an old apartment with a lot of decorations made of wood. Also you can tell that, er, my human wasn’t living there because, er, it’s a bit messy. Plus the three of us, I have to admit, added to the mess a little.

Below, this is me behind a cat door. Because one of the rooms was not well heated, keeping the door closed was better. But the cat door made sure we could get there if we so wanted. We don’t like closed doors.

Striking a pose on an old, out-of-order chimney…

Cat chatting with Grouik…

It’s tiring to be a globetrotter cat…

And enjoying local drinks. Yep, just the empty bottles (you should see the humans get all nostalgic now at the sight of a bottle of Serafijn Grand Cru beer…).

You probably expected to see me photographed with the Manneken Pis, but we never went out, it was too dangerous out there.

BUT, just for you, I asked my human to make a bit of an effort to help me for once and thanks to the magical Photoshop tool here we are!

Wishing you all a great week!

It’s been exactly a month today that our beloved Grouik has left us. Not a day has passed without the humans thinking about him. We all miss him so very much.

Thankfully, we have our memories and the humans have plenty of video footage so we can watch him over and over again.

The pages (“A little bit about myself” and “My half-brothers“) on the menu on top of my blog have been updated and we have added a special page for Grouik. You can access it from the menu on top of the blog, or the first badge of him on the sidebar. You can also go to this page by clicking on the badge below.

There are many pictures of him, some words from his human, pictures of his last resting place, his little paradise that his human made for him, and a video. There will probably be one or two more videos posted later but we will let you know about that.

This is our modest tribute to our Grouik.

As I have probably told you before (my human is telling me I am getting old – she should look at herself first!), before I had my blog, I had a Facebook Fan Page. Which you can like here by the way ;-) I’m only 2 fans away from 200 fans!!

Anyway, I digress. So, while I had my fan page, I had time to work on my blog and it was not always easy. See?

What is this? WordPress for Dummies…

It looks big…

Do I have to read this? Can you read it for me?

So, how do I post a link…

Tiring activity… I need a nap!

Thank Ceiling Cat, after that much-needed and much-deserved nap, I had the brilliant idea to have my human work on it for me. Of what use would she be if she wasn’t working for me?

I admit, I might not have realized, at the time, that I was just a kitten full of energy and that Grouik and Milou were old(er). And that maybe, they didn’t have as much energy as I had.

Well little Kitshka is fun to play with but she is like a herd of kitten’s worth of energy and she doesn’t understand the concept of stopping a game to take a nap.

So I had to teach her the virtues of a good nap after we had played.

And she got it.

Yesterday night though, at around 1:30 am, she decided she needed to do some exercise and she started running in circle on the humans in their bed. Bad idea Kitshka. The humans were not very pleased as they really needed sleep and ended up closing the door to their bedroom. Me? I was inside already with them! Nice night we had after that.

I’m not sure today is going to be a good day for naps because I heard the humans plan to clean the house. Which means the abominable aspirateur!

So, I’d rather go take a nap on the humans’ bed now. And then after the cleaning, when the fresh, clean sheets await me.

Happy Caturday! What are you gonna do today?

Today, Kitshka, our new little sister, has been home for a week exactly (well, tonight it will be a week).

The humans had kept her in their room at first, separated from us. As if we couldn’t smell her. Well, Milou didn’t seem to realize. I think he didn’t want to. She had her little bowl of kitten kibbles (the same yummy ones I had when I was a kitten too!), her little bowl of water and her little litter box.
Since she felt like exploring after the first night only, they decided to prudently open the door and see what our reaction would be. Of course, we didn’t like the idea at first and we had to make it clear, was the little brat fur ball to stay, who was there first.

Below is a video of Milou and I first meeting her. Please excuse the humans’ mistakes: the orientation of the iPhone camera, the mess, the feet!

As I have mentioned before, we started playing on our second day of knowing each other, and we still do! Milou has been hissing a little less these past couple of days so it looks like she has won everyone’s heart almost. Welcome to your furever home, Kitshka!

Hope you like the video!

Hiya Furriends!

Sorry again for the long silence. After her seminar thingie, my human and I played a lot, like you could see on my last post, and then she began having some “important” stuff to do, of which I will tell you more later in this post. You’re going to be surprised! I know I was!!

First, an update on Grouik’s page: it will be up soon. The humans are making videos of all the footage (vocab builder) they have. I will let you know when it is ready.

Secondly, I received several awards from furriends: THANK YOU ALL SO VERY MUCH! Sorry for being so late. I will accept them in a special post on Tuesday (because Mondays are for memories you know, and I already missed one, and I owe you Part 2 of my adoption day).

Thirdly, I want to send a HUGE thank you to Sparkle that had a giveaway of Fancy Feast Mornings a while back and I was one of the winners! I received it this past week. There was my name on the package! Look:

Wow, that’s for me?

Can someone open it now?

What you mean “it’s called mornings and it’s the afternoon already?!” Seriously?!

Okay. Here is my prize, this is morning and we’re still in bed. Wake up and open these for me now.

Human?

Ah, finally! Mmmmh those look good

Can I open these myself? Hmmmm…

For the grace of Ceiling Cat, human, open one!

Are we done with the pictures? Can you open one now?

Thanks to the humans at Nestle Purina for this yummy package. Milou cannot have it (because of his health diet). But me and the kiddie love it.

Yeah, that’s right, that’s my fourth point, the humans being busy: I’m no longer the youngest member of our family. Sniff.

Friday evening, they came back home with a kitten! Look at him:

His name is Frisco. He cannot stop moving! Except when he takes long naps.

Well, okay, okay, I will be able to get over it and play with him (we have already started to play together actually), but at first it was kind of scary: are the humans going to exchange us for this kitten, will my human keep on giving me treats, cuddles, and everything?

Milou didn’t want to get it at first. We both had to make it clear who was the Boss here (Hey Newbie, we were here first!).

All in all, Frisco is, I must admit, fun, and I will finally have a furry friend to play with. BUT, I say the humans could have asked (Gee, Milou is now hissing at everyone in the house again). For example, yesterday night, I surprised my human joyfully playing with the little fur ball. I was outraged! She saw that and tried to make up for it, but it was too late: no cuddles, no petting, no purring, no nothing but the back of disrespect! Was she going to replace me just like that?!

But today we played, both with the human and the kiddie so I think it might – might – be a good thing. If the kiddie stops eating food from my bowl! Ah kids!

Here are some pics of the both of us. Sorry they’re blurry, but Frisco can’t stop moving!

Guarding the castle

I’m starting to miss my human a little bit again. But her husband says she’ll be back tonight. Yippee!

In the meantime, I am guarding her castle, err, my desk (remember where she left her mess?) against any intruder, human or furry intruders alike!

Since my human is again gone for the week to another of these seminar thingies, I thought I might as well go fishing!

Please forgive the mess my human left behind. This is her desk. Well, no, sorry, this is my desk but this is her mess.

Anyway, the humans say to get fish you need to fish or go fishing. So fishing I went. But there were no salmon to fish. No fish at all actually. Nothing but Milou…

. . .

Meeeeeee-looooooo…

Remember I mentioned this book before?

Well, my human borrowed it at the library some time ago and we had the occasion to read it together. No, I was not snoozing!

Well, it’s a lovely little book. My human even plans to buy it when she can to keep it.

It is primarily a children book, so it is a quick read for a cat or adult human. It is full of beautiful drawings of Minette, Julia Child‘s Parisian cat.

It tells the story of how Julia Child, then studying cooking in Paris, came to adopt Minette and what Minette’s life was like living in Paris with Julia Child.

Both my human and I liked it lots. Me because it’s mostly about a Parisian cat and my human because it’s about a cook and beautiful drawings of her cat. Also, as mentioned before, this makes a great book to introduce cats and cooking to a child.

All in all, go check it out.

You can see part of it on Amazon (to give you an avant-goût).

You can also go check the author’s page. You can watch the author in the following video (talking about Minette’s Feast, starting at 1min20) and see some of the drawings from the book. Minette was really cute =^.^=

Also you can see images here and here.

We hope you’ll like it!

It’s nice to look back to happy memories sometimes. I recounted how my human adopted me.

Here are some pictures of my first days with my human and her then-boyfriend, now-husband, human, whatever. Since I was very cute and little (am still cute but a little bigger), my human nicknamed me “P’tite Crevette” (Lil’ Shrimp). She’s still calling me that today.

We have more pics but I will share them next week! Have a wonderful week everyone!

Look at me already exploring my new Grouik’s and Milou’s territory.

Oh, what are these? They look fun to play with!

So this is what my furry friends were talking about? A furrever home?

This is how small (and cute) I was (still am) (cute that is).

And finally for today, this is the picture my human put in my little passport. I was in the arms of my human’s Mom.

P.S.: my human is once again going to one of these seminar thingies, so forgive me if I am a little slow to comment on your bloggies in the next few days.

I have to say I am truly purringly happy to have found so many furry and human friends thanks to the Internet. I wish I had enough catnip to give some to each of you. I guess I’m gonna have to ask my human to buy some more…

Since I had already received them, I am not going to go through the process of accepting them again. But I really appreciate my furriends!

Have you seen the news? We’re gonna have our very own Internet Cat Video Film Festival hosted by the Walker Art Center in Minnesota!

You are invited to nominate your favorite cat videos online, until July 30.

More info here:

“It is an experiment,” she said. “It will be interesting to see if people think it is silly, or great, or a waste of time. But I like the idea of everyone admitting they like cat videos.”

The film festival will start at dusk, and will last 45 minutes to an hour.

That may not sound like a long time, but most cat videos on YouTube are less than a minute so the festival should allow for plenty of feline fun.

The festival is part of the Walker Open Field summer program, which is all about community building and experimentation. So rather than acting as a traditional curator, Czarniecki Hill said she will be collecting cat video nominations from the general public — focusing especially on the local community. Then she’ll screen those nominations, and decide which videos will make the cut.

The winning videos will be projected on a building wall near the art center.

Even more info here. I’m so excited!

If you liked my videos about my mojito, or me catching water, would you please consider nominating me here? ***purrrrrrrrrrrrrrsssssss***

Also, tomorrow I will feature a brand new video that my human had taken in France. Here’s a hint on what it will be about:

Please come back tomorrow to see my new video.

Good luck to all participants!

You see, I have found the purrfect hiding spot: above the ground but not too high up in the air, confined place, dark, with cushion-like towelettes.

It is a small yet big enough place to have two me inside, so quite comfy. It is a little drawer-like closet at the bottom of the humans’ kitchen table, where my human keeps what she calls dish towels (although I found no dish in the towels).

Well my human wouldn’t hear anything about it. She doesn’t want me in her precious towels. I tried to explain these could be turned into cat or better yet Texas towels – since there are no dishes you see – but no. She wanted me out.

Silly humans don’t understand anything about life’s little pleasures.

It’s been a while since I’ve done a “getting your human’s attention” post.

Today, I have a simple trick for you. Let me explain.

Yesterday evening, my human was going around in the house, from one room to another, claiming to be completing what she calls “household chores.” What I could see she was not completing in the meantime, is having her attention on me. So I decided to show her what house hold means. I waited for her to stop and I acted. I sat on her foot. Ah!

She didn’t dare move for several minutes. Bliss.

Mission accomplished.

P.S.: My human is not very pleased that I’m posting pics of her slippers and apartment pants on my blog. She thinks that’s not very stylish for a French kitty. Humans’ preoccupations, really! As if people and, most importantly, furry friends, were going to even notice her slippers while there’s a me, Texas, on them.

Silly human.

Today I thought I would share some pictures of me from when I was much younger… a kid (a little less than 4 months old).

That was back in Paris, in my human’s husband’s (then boyfriend) apartment in Paris, dans le 18e arrondissement.

My human loves this picture very much. Actually she took several such pictures.

With, and without external light :-/

There was some activity going on on the floor (Milou, I guess).

At that point, I became bored.

And I decided I needed a nap ;-)

Wishing y’all an excellent week!

It’s Sunday and before I go on with my blogging I want to thank my furriends (furry friends and humans!) who awarded me a couple of, well, awards =^.^=

First, Miss Lisa, at ft. // La vie éclectique. Sorry to respond only now, but with my human running around and everything…

I am very moved by your nomination and I thank you so very much with many purrs! Indeed Miss Lisa nominated me for the Blog on Fire Award!

I have to admit though that my human had to explain that my blog wasn’t actually on fire and why it was a pretty cool award! Thanks again Miss Lisa! You rock!
(I think humans have some strange uses of words…)

So I have to share 8 unusual things about me… Everything about me is special, because I am special. But let’s go:

1. I said earlier that “I don’t want humans to call me red (to quote my human, I am white and cream colored).” Sometimes my human also says I am Caramel Macchiato.
2. Because my human likes to wear black pants to work, I like to put some of my white hair on them
3. I love chicken out my human’s plate
4. I miss having some yogurt from time to time, like the ones I had in France
5. I like to climb on trees
6. I like the false mouse my human brought me back from Boston
7. Once I licked olives on the humans’ table and they never suspected it!
8. I have a collar with the American flag (I already had it in France!)

I also have to nominate 8 bloggers, so in no particular order:
=^.^= Sammy at One Spoiled Cat
=^.^= Savannah at Savannah’s Paw Tracks
=^.^= Miss Satchie at Satchmo the Cat
=^.^= Pedro at Maru can kiss my furry…
=^.^= Jet at Hey… It’s Jet Here
=^.^= Archie, Oscar and Henry at My Three Moggies
=^.^= Miss Nellie and her furry family at The Cat from Hell
=^.^= The Summer Solstice Girl at Summer Solstice Musings

And I’m going to ask my human to notify them as soon as this post is posted!

~~~
My furry friend Jet at Hey… It’s Jet Here also nominated me for the Very Inspired Blogger Award. Thank you so very much my furriend! I really appreciate it. In fact, I am loudly purring =^.^=
Since I had already received it, I will not go through all the process but I’m sending purrs to my furriend Jet!
And for those who read all this, here is an old picture of me from when I was in France! I liked to pretend that I was a pirate!
Have a purring Sunday everyone!
My human explained to me that today is America’s birthday. America is where I live now. I moved with the humans and half-brothers a little less than a year ago.
My human had been talking about me, her and the others moving to America for quite some time before. She was very excited. I didn’t understand at the time. She had also told me before that I would go to Ireland too but I never went. Milou didn’t like Ireland (that story is for another post) so I don’t really care. But America is great: I have a huge garden with little live animals to observe. And also the catnip plant is starting to smell like catnip (another post too)! Fresh catnip! Very nice. Of course I have to live with my half-brothers who never play with me but that’s okay. Also I miss my human’s mom sometimes (T’was fun to play “treat or bite” with her!). But I like America.
So since it is America’s birthday today, and it is my first time in America, I asked my human to take a couple of pics of me with an American flag.
I want to wish America a special, HAPPY BIRTHDAY with lots of purrs!
Hiya my furriends!
How are you today?
Me? I’m okay. My human’s back, but of course she had plenty of things to do, like cleaning her dirty laundry (Grouik wanted to beg her to give it to him as was, but she’s not a fan of black pants with white fur on it – go figure!). Plus she received a new laptop for her birthday, so she claimed to have to transfer stuff from one laptop to another. Thankfully, I convinced her with much meowing to update my blog before hers!
So, I know I missed a “Mondays are for memories” but it will be back next week. I read all (hopefully) your wonderful blogs I couldn’t read when my human wasn’t here with me.
Here, upstate NY, it is not too hot but still too hot to do anything too tiring. So my brothers and I went napping on the deck.
Hope you had a great day too!
Here is something we like in common my human and I: Ladurée. She keeps the funky, colored, round thingies she eats and I keep the bags!
Hiya!
