Look at what my human sent to her husband… Is she seeing other cats?

Here is something we like in common my human and I: Ladurée. She keeps the funky, colored, round thingies she eats and I keep the bags!
My human, she calls it a win-win situation. I say I’d rather have the bag than those colored thingies she calls macarons! Hence, I win!

Hiya!

Look at what I got myself into!

Keep out! This bag is mine!

Look at the genius of Ladurée bags: there’s a string attached! Two actually!!

I can play hide and seek from the bag.

Love this bag!

Today is a very important day. Today is Cat World Domination Day (and my human is not even here!).

But most important of all, it is my furriend Sparkle’s birthday! Do please, go wish a Happy Birthday to Sparkle!

Here’s to you, Dear Sparkle, fresh catnip flowers for you =^.^= Happy Birthday!

Hiya everyone.

My human is gone for a week – one week – to something she calls a seminar. I have no idea what that is but I hate it and I wish I could bite it for stealing time from me.

My human’s husband is here though. Hope he won’t forget to feed us. My human is the one usually taking care of the food and everything. Can’t wait for her return.

In the meantime furriends, my posts and answers may come a little more slowly…

Gotta go wait for my human to return…

But the center is in France :-/

450 cats and 200 dogs are in a full board hotel in Elven. Twelve years ago, the company Diana Pet Food set up one of the biggest testing centers for pets in the world there, in order to assess what food they like best. Kibbles and pâtées makers love it.

According to the article, cats live the good life in this place similar to a “3-star hotel” and can choose the food they prefer.

That’s exactly the goal of this “3-star hotel” for dogs and cats, based in Elven (Morbihan, France) . . . . to test the attraction of the pets to the ingredients that Diana Pet Food prepares in order to go with kibbles and pâtées. Powders or potions, “made with natural ingredients,” that the company will sell to Purina, Mars Royal Canin, or retailer groups brands…, the biggest names in animal food. “We hold 55% of the global market of appetence factors,” explains Jean-Pierre Rivery, Diana Pet Food’s President.

Apparently, there are 200 dogs and 450 cats living there. It is kind of like human homes only with a lot more food options.

What bothers me a little is that dogs and cats come very young from breeders and “work’ there only for a period of 4 to 5 years. Then they are “given for adoption.” But we all know that adult cats (and dogs I guess?) are less wanted when they are already adults…

They also say that the food has to smell good to… humans!

In Elven, humans give their opinion. “We must give satisfaction to the animal and the smell must please their owner” [sic!] analyzes Isabelle Guiller, R&D Director. “If it smells bad he [the human] won’t buy it again.” But owners [geez!] are received in white, sterile cubicles. For in Elven, the VIP room is for [pets].

There’s a video in the article. It’s in French but you can see a little bit the testing center.

So what do you think?

Here’s a little story my human saw in the Belgian news (why on earth does she still read the news from there I don’t know) that I thought I would share with you.

Called by the tenants of an apartment in Charleroi, the firefighters had to dig holes in the walls to save a cat that was stuck in the chimney. The intervention lasted 5 and a half hours . . . .
the cat had probably fallen from the roof inside the chimney. After trying to find the animal thanks to a thermal camera, the firefighter decided to make a bigger hole [than the one the tenants had already made] in the wall.

The intervention lasted 5 and a half hour, at the end of which the cat, that was entangled in a piece of scrap iron, was taken out of the chimney safe and sound.

Again, tons of purrs to the firefighters!

Mojitos for hot summers

I know I blogged this before but… this might be useful these days + I like the music =^.^=

Texas, a cat in New York

When I was living in suburban Paris, summers were sometimes hot (though not like in New York). And I liked to have a little mojito! (with no alcohol inside, please!)

My furriends, I am so glad to say that the sun is back and I am enjoying myself outside!

I also played with my human, making myself clear that only I decided when she could get a picture of me, using Milou’s and Sparkle’s techniques. See? No picture please!

There’s also plenty of activities around.

What’s that?

What was that sound?!

Pfft, that’s only Grouik!

When I was living in France, I didn’t have a garden like I have now.

My human and I spent some time at my human’s mom’s apartment. My human’s mom would keep me when my human was away too. She didn’t have a garden but she had a balcony and I had permission to go on the balcony.

What I liked most was when no human was watching, I would jump on one of these flower pots and smell the flowers, eat carnation buds or grass. Of course it was strictly forbidden because the apartment was on the third floor. But that was so much fun!

There was another place on the balcony in which I loved to go. It was kind of like a bookshelf but with a big, thick plastic cover on it. My human’s mom was keeping vegetables and some plants inside. I loved to hide inside!

Lovely souvenirs!

Have you heard of Choupette, Karl Lagerfeld’s cat? I mentioned her once here.

She has been in the news these past weeks (Check for example here and here). I am very happy for Choupette. I must say that these humans that call themselves journalists are missing the whole story though.

The story being: a feline having his human do everything the feline wants him to do, how is this news?!

For example, take my first news link:

French model Baptiste Giabiconi asked Lagerfeld to babysit the feline for two weeks around Christmas, Lagerfeld told WWD, but Choupette was “too cute” so he “refused to give her back.”

Huh-oh, wrong interpretation. Choupette chose to stay with the famous designer.

Since then, the 9-month-old cat has become the apple of his eye and has been treated to a life of luxury. Lagerfeld has seen to it that Choupette is “beyond spoiled.”

She deserves it! We all do!

The cat has two maids who tend to her night and day and document her daily life in a diary of sorts for Lagerfeld.

Err, excuse me “journalists”?! This is what we call having humans. There are dozens, probably hundreds of cats out there doing just what I’m presently doing, dictating our blog entries and tweets to our humans.

It is time for humans to stop turning a blind eye to reality: we don’t simply rule; We rule the Internet and we rule the world.

The sooner humans will realize it, the better. I mean, can you resist this face?

My point exactly.

Now, bring me some kibbles and catnip.

The humans bought another piece of furniture the other day. They call it a desk. The nice part is that I can jump on it!

I decided I would be nice to them the other day and help them by supervising the assembling of the desk.

The humans being, well, humans, I had to help too. It was tiring.

Needless to say that, after that, I needed a well-deserved nap. But at least the desk was assembled properly!

What would humans do without us?

My good furriend Savannah has so kindly bestowed two awards on me and my little blog: One Lovely Blog Award and the Very Inspiring Blogger Award.

Thank you so very much, Savvy!

I don’t know what to say… My human keeps on telling me I am lovely, but it’s so nice when it comes from furriends and fellow bloggers. I love my little place on the Internet and I like to share it with my furriends. I am glad if you find it lovely and inspiring. Wow. I’m purring loudly right now…

So here are the rules for the awards

1. Thank the person who nominated you and link back to them in your post
Thank you so much, Savannah!

2. Share 7 things about yourself

– I am scared by the vacuum cleaner
– I like books (the smell and sleeping on or next to them)
– I hate those citrus stuff the humans eat

3. Nominate 15 bloggers you admire
I am too relatively new to the blogosphere and I don’t know so many people yet, so here are my 15 bloggers I admire. If you already received the award, well, consider receiving it a second time from Texas, who admires you ;-) I know some of you among the list are big stars on the Internet, and those awards probably don’t mean that much anymore but I still admire you, so there you go!
In no particular order…

Sparkle
Sammy
Sparta
Simon’s Cat
Lemonysqueezes
Just Cats
Hands on Bowie
Maru
Kitty Bloger

So while I was training hard for the Couch-a-thon, my human forgot to register me! See how hard at work I am:

I have been praticing a daily training since at least December! Check here, that’s the proof! We all have been practicing. But I have to say that Milou and I have been more serious about it than Grouik.

Actually, I work so hard, that the black couch has turned partly white (my human’s not particularly happy about it, but a cat gotta do what he gotta do!). See?

So I hope it is not too late to register. Below is my registration fee: fresh catnip. Click on it to see how fresh and beautiful it is!

Now if you don’t mind I have to go back to napping.

Have you noticed how humans generally hate Mondays and tend to do everything thinking about how the weekend was so nice and why is it that Monday’s already here?

In French, humans have a funny expression to illustrate the phenomenon. When they are asked “how are you today?” on a Monday, they reply “Comme un lundi !” meaning “Like on any Monday!” which would really mean “how do you expect me to be doing? It’s Monday!”

Frankly, I don’t understand that: Monday is just another day. But… that gave me an idea for a series of posts.

Before I had my own blog, I had my own Facebook page (I couldn’t have a Facebook profile because of my name… go figure!), and even before, my own Twitter account.

On my Facebook page I shared some pictures of me that I liked, when I was still living in France. So I thought I would share some of them with my new furriends. And hopefully those who have already seen them will enjoy seeing them again.

So Mondays are for memories (of the past weekend, or the past year). And my first post in the series is about my encounter with a snail (snails are for how humans look on Mondays). Hope you like them!

Rain brought something interesting: a snail!

Wow, it’s moving slowly

What’s the smell of snails?

Hmmm… is it really moving?

Hello snail

Hello…

A little too slow for me…

Maybe we can play.

Can you roll?

Hmmm

Well, finally my human takes some time from her schedule (really, I couldn’t care less about other things she had to do) to take care of my blog.

But I don’t want to blame her too much because she thought about me this week and brought me stuff from a place she calls Manhattan (?!).

First, she came back with Maru’s book which we will read this weekend and I can talk about it later next week. Yippee!
She also bought something for herself that was wrapped in white, thick paper. My kind of paper! Of course she kept it for me!

But most of all, she brought, guess what? Catnip. Well, the plant. Well, what is supposed to be catnip. I could not recognize the plant as catnip though. Strange.

But I can only assume it was nip because someone was having a good time…

After just a few minutes, Grouik was so under the influence of nip that the humans feared he would try to fly and fall from the deck. That was embarrassing.

That was yesterday. Today, Milou and I decided to inspect the so-called catnip together.

Nope. Still didn’t smell like catnip to me.

On the other hand, guess who started to lick the plant…

Again, a bit embarrassing.

As for me, I guess I’m more of the dry-catnip type than fresh one. Oh well… I wish I had an olive instead.

Sorry my furriends, my human has been very busy the past days.

How was your day? Mine was so-so. I was grounded because the above of my right eye was a little red. It is itching too. My human thinks I am allergic to some plant outside (I had the same problem last year, and so had Milou to a lesser extent, but it went away just like it came… the vet said it might be an allergy) so I could not go outside today.

I successfully ran away twice because I’m just too quick for my human. But other than that, I had to stay inside. Played a little with my human, which was good. Napped a lot. Ate some food.

My human’s husband brought a paper bag tonight. I love paper bags! So I had some fun inside!

How was your day my furriends?

Nobody.

Yep, furriends. You hear me. Neither Milou, nor me.

What happened? We were starting to fight on the tree inside the house. My human, she grabbed her camera to document how brave and valiant and a good fighter I was (she usually starts screaming our names to have us stop, which is very annoying). So for once, she reacted about correctly.

Her human, what did he do? Grabbed Milou to put him elsewhere and started playing hard with me. You want to play with them humans and they are busy but he chose this moment.

Pfft. I bet I would have won.

I am blasé.
